My reflection on Jane Austen

scenes from the movie: "Sense and Sensibility" 1995 film

Jane Austen was an English novelist who wrote about love, friendship, marriages, scandals, and influential and remarkable tales about love. She never married or fell in love, she wrote about being in love, though she never really quite experienced it. She wrote many novels including; "Pride and Prejudice," "Emma," "Sense and Sensibility," "Mansfield Park," "Northanger Abbey," and many more. My mother told me to not read "Sense and Sensibility" because she thought it was too mature for my age, considering the fact that i am nearly a teenager; 13! My father is a warm and kind push over type of father and he knew how much I wanted to read it... so he bought the novel. I read it in my room for hours and made sure that no one disturbed me. I never took a break from reading that novel because i just could not seem to put it down. "Sense and Sensibility" is about two sisters named Marianne and Elinor Dashwood. Elinor is the older sister and she represents the "Sense," the more reasonable sister. While Marianne represents "Sensibilty," the Emotions of it. They both find love, but in different ways. Elinor is more closed minded about her relationship with Edward Ferrars, while Marianne is more passionate and open minded about her relationship with John Willoughby. Marianne embraces her romance, but Marianne's sensibilty and Elinor's sense combine. Marianne is foolish and romantic, but also sensable and responsible. Elinor does not lack passion even if she may be represented as the "sense" one. They both learned from each other, and created a eutopia of a classic novel about love. As I finished reading the love story, i put it back down on my night stand and i thought; I thought about how if i were to be in that novel which character would best protray me; Marianne: "The Sensibilty one" the "foolish one about love?" or Elinor: "The Sense one" "The Responsible One about love?" That question has to be left unanswered for now, because right now my one true desire is to find out what i really am and what my purpose in life is.

Twiggy is a fashion icon from the 60's. She changed the way models were, back then the models were more curvaceous and fuller, and then a little English girl named Lesley Hornby walks in to the modeling agency very skinny weighing in about 90lbs and was only 16! She was very different but one day a photographer named Nigel Davies noticed her...and then her career launched! She was being known as the "High Fashion Mod model" and the era of Mod was created. Twiggy changed the fashion world with her unique and different look. She got the name Twiggy because her family and kids would call her that because she was so skinny and little. Twiggy... is a fashion inspiration and a role model.
